Simplified.

My 10 guesses at where most people can find things to remove from their homes

  1. Something that touches the floor
    1. A storage container, chest, lamp, trash-bin, or maybe even a big item like a couch or chair? I’m betting most people have at least one thing that touches the floor they only touch to move when cleaning.

  2. Kitchen utensils, gadgets, containers, etc…
    1. Who doesn’t end up with 2 or 3 of some kitchen thing, or a pan that you never use because the lid is gone or it’s never the right size?

  3. A book
    1. An old travel guide, textbook you’ll never actually read again, or that book you bought at the airport and didn’t even like…

  4. Bed sheets
    1. Take a look and see. Are there any extra pillow cases or bed sheets you never use anymore?

  5. Knickknacks
    1. Little things from conventions, trips, Kinder Eggs, etc… Usually shoved in amongst other things on a shelf or in a drawer.

  6. Shoes
    1. You don’t have a single pair that hasn’t been used for over a year? Or should never be worn again because they are just that worn out.

  7. Clothes
    1. Another obvious one, but seriously even when they fit you again, are they still the style you’d wear? Keep one pair of those old jeans for a victory photo after your diet, and remove the rest
    2. And t-shirts. Runners and corporate office workers especially.

  8. Check the tool-box
    1. 3 screw drivers, rusty razors, useless parts?

  9. Boxes for things
    1. Do you have the packaging stored away for things you don’t have anymore?

  10. Office supplies
    1. If you work in an office it’s hard to avoid ending up with extra pens and binder clips at home.

How did I do? Better than your horoscope for the day?

New job!

It’s been quite a long time since I have said this so I understand if you read it twice; I have a new job. Yup, I do.

I will be starting at Momentive Performance Materials in Albany, NY in a few weeks. My first and primary ongoing project will be support for their learning management system needs. We’ll see how the other duties fall into place once I get into the role and get started.

I could go on for a while with this next bit, but to be concise, it was a good time with Granite at GE and now I am looking forward to the challenges of both a new role and company. To all of you reading this that I’ve worked for and with, thanks for everything.

Jim out.

The forest continues to grow…

Testing out the blog setup a bit more and I am curious what the preview looks like with photos included. I am guessing they don’t appear.

And yah, I need to stop buying plants. I just had to install a shelf to make room for these ones on the table near the window.
